Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Caitlin loves exploring the natural wonders and vibrant cultural experiences Canada has to offer.

From visiting vineyards in Niagara to baking mussels in Lunenberg; swimming in the Great Lakes to hiking in the Rocky Mountains; attending a musical at the Ed Mirvish theatre to stargazing in a Dark Sky Sanctuary, Caitlin's passion for uniquely Canadian adventures informs every step of her work as a travel designer with Discover Holidays.

What is your favorite place in Canada?

One of my absolute favourite places is Manitoulin Island: the world's largest freshwater island, located in the La Cloche Mountains in the Great Lakes region, is one of Canada's hidden gems of tourism! My favourite time to go is in the summer, when the white sand beach of Providence Bay provides a rest-point for the annual Monarch butterfly migration.

What one thing in Canada should you experience at least once in your life?

Skating the length of the Rideau Canal during Winterlude in Ottawa – with lots of breaks for hot apple cider, mulled wine, and fresh maple taffy from the vendors along the way!

What is your best travel memory in Canada?

Visiting Montreal after a four-day ski trip at Mont-Tremblant. It's difficult to say which was more breathtaking: the bright colours of the ski resort's pedestrian village, as seen from the height of the open-air gondola; or walking up to the Gothic Revival architecture of the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal on a snowy day.
