Whittier INTRODUCTION

From Whittier, connection into Alaska’s largest city (Anchorage) and the interior of Alaska can be by road or aboard Alaska Railroad, both sharing the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. This scenic journey is a highlight in itself as you travel through a Swiss Chalet-like structure for 2.5 miles through narrow passes cut into the mountain. For those wishing to travel to Valdez, the port for the Alaska Marine Highway ferries is in Whittier as well.
